Gourmet Dignan Holiday 2011 | Video

Gourmet’s latest sneaker, the Dignan, is hands down their most off the wall design to date. So where did the inspiration for this bundled up cross trainer come from? Well the shoe shares its name with Mark Whalberg’s character in the Scorsese masterpiece The Departed, coming off as a nod to the final scene in which said character shows up in hospital booties to murk Matt Damon. Riffing off the coverall look from the booties, the Dignan gets a nylon shell over the body of a runner, with a fastener up top to really block out the water or what have you. Follow us after the jump for a look at a video detailing the unique inspiration, and grab a pair for yourself at Gourmet now.
