It's hard to believe it's already been ten years since the first installment of the "Lord of the Rings" film trilogy hit the big screen. The highly anticipated prequel, "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey," is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 14th, 2012, following a number of setbacks, including a directorial change that saw Guillermo del Toro leave the production in 2010 to be replaced by Peter Jackson, the auteur behind the "Lord of the Rings" films. Based on the J.R.R. Tolkien fantasy classic "The Hobbit," the film follows Bilbo Baggins as he embarks on an epic adventure through strange lands to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom Erebor. A number of familiar faces from the LOTR films reprise their roles in prequel: Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Elijah Wood as Frodo, Hugo Weaving as Elrond, Cate Blanchett as Galadriel, Orlando Bloom as Legolas and Ian Holm as Bilbo Baggins in his later years. (Martin Freeman takes on the younger Bilbo role.) Click through to view the just release official trailer for "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey."
