In the movie “Fight Club”, director David Fincher made a point in visualizing author Chuck Palahniuk‘s description of how modern lifestyle was becoming a reflection of the IKEA catalog. Well, the latest marketing idea from IKEA Australia isn’t too far from that. For a recruitment drive of new IKEA employees, the furnishing megastore, along with local ad agency The Monkeys, to cleverly create a recruiting pamphlet in form of those familiar furniture assembly instruction manual. Next, the store begin to distribute them within IKEA products. The result, 4285 applications filled with 280 of those hired, all the while the project incurred no cost of its own. Brilliant idea need not be too original.
