For those of you waiting with bated breath on a release date for Nike’s Year of the Dragon-edition Air Force 1s, there’s some comfort in knowing that this year’s Chinese New Year lands on January 23rd, which is earlier than it’s been in previous years. The good news is you won’t even have to wait that long, as the shoes are scheduled to drop January 14th at House of Hoops locations and Nike Tier Zero retailers. The kicks themselves are surprisingly low-key, considering the potential design possibilities inherent in the mythical creature that holds such significance in Chinese folklore (not to mention that 2012 marks the 30th anniversary of the Air Force 1 model). Premium details are subtly executed in the tonal upper, while celebratory colors are confined to the sockliner and packaging. Regardless, the demand for these will likely reach a fever pitch.
