With the press release just a couple of hours old and the Canon PowerShot G1 X is already the most talked about gadget of the day. The verdicts been quite positive thus far, especially on the super-sized CMOS image sensor. At 14.3 Megapixel and a dimension of 18.7mm x 14mm, its larger than any sensors found on the popular Micro Four Thirds cameras by Canon competitors Panasonic and Olympus. Fans also praised the PowerShot G1 X’s lens, which utilized the same Canon proprietary design and manufacturing process as its EF lens series for DSLR. However, few were also disappointed by the lens component. Right before the CES, many had thought Canon would add an adoptable lens mount to the PowerShot G1 X, allowing users to fully appreciate the expansive range of Canon lens. Instead, Canon forgo an interchangeable lenses setup for something more compact. From our perspective, despite the very few imperfections, the PowerShot G1 X is definitely a camera with more than enough features, even for a professional photographer. What do you think?
