S.L.A.T.E. Trade Show – “A Diamond In The Rough”

To put it simply, S.L.A.T.E. trade show is like that strange kid in your classroom when you were young. He was kind enough to be a friend, but when it came to the game of kickball, no one wants him to be on their team. Stuck right in between apparel with mass appeal, such Calvin Klein, Nautica, and Levi’s in MAGIC, and trend setters like Incase, adidas SLVR, and others in PROJECT, S.L.A.T.E. and its legion of street wear brands really feel out of place. While the trade show gone through many changes, at least cosmetically, the problems are there still from intermittent cell and Internet services, scantly dressed promo girls (and guys) walking the aisles, and that incessant loud music that hampers many dealmaking. Despite its long standing issues, however, S.L.A.T.E. is still relevant to the marketplace. The same goes to the brands it represents. So like a diamond in the rough, you will never know it until you stumble upon it.
