After successful pairings with some of the most dynamic and contemporary artists of our time, Louis Vuitton carries on their support of the arts by highlighting work of Yayoi Kusama, the 82-year artist known for her pioneering pieces that span a career that first began in 1957. Her life began in rural Japan, but Kusama has risen to become her country’s most prominent contemporary artist. Best known for her dot patterns, Kusama’s work spans a variety of media – from film to sculpture and even immersive installations – that feature intense colors, imagery, and emotion. In the first piece of the partnership between the two, Kusama will take part in designing a limited edition collection featuring her famed polka dot theme across Louis Vuitton’s entire brand, including clothing, accessories, footwear, and watches. In turn, LV will also be supporting a collection of Kusama’s most intense innovations, which are currently showing at the Tate Modern. The two will also collaborate on several new pieces that will be showcased in Louis V’s Bond Street Maison’s dedicated exhibition space. Take a look at the microsite to learn more about the collaboration set to appear in full later this summer.
