Stone Island is part fashion label, part research textile lab. The Italian menswear brand experiments with technology as if it had been bestowed a research grant with a quickly approaching expiration date. The latest material to come out of their innovative design lab is the exotic sounding Mussola Prismatica, a visually striking fabric that’s created by bonding lightweight cotton muslin with a transparent, finely grooved polyurethane film. Rich coloring is achieved with a double dye formula, while the polyurethane film provides wind and water resistance, as well as a high-gloss surface with light-refracting properties.
