Despite its appearance much like a Cylon relic from science fiction TV-series http://syfy.com/battlestar” target=”_blank”>Battlestar Galatica, the http://omegawatches.com” target=”_blank”>OMEGA Spacemaster Z-33 actually follows a long line of OMEGA timepiece for aviators. Taken inspirations from the “Pilot Line” of watches, the Spacemaster Z-33 features a new quartz movement devised by OMEGA. Designated as calibre 5666, it calibrates both the analog and digital portions of the watch. Coincide with the moving hands, the digital display dial face tells date, UTC, times in two time zones, along with perpetual calendar, alarm setting, and other chronograph functions. As “pilot’s watch”, the Spacemaster Z-33 can also record data and logs for up to ten flights.

To protect the sensitive quartz movement, OMEGA machined the Spacemaster Z-33 case out of grade 5 titanium. Polished, sand-blasted, and brushed, the case also took its design cue from the original OMEGA “Pilot Line”. A “double wall” case back construction for sound resonance to amplify the alarm, it also bears the OMEGA Seahorse, Ω emblem, the Speedmaster designation, and serial number for authenticity. Fitted with large sapphire crystal on both sides, the watch is rated water resistant up to 100 feet. On the dial face, the red on black LCD display is perfect for low light condition. As for the analog display, all indexes and hands are coated with Super-LumiNova for easy reading at night. And if need be, a push of the 8 o’clock button will move the analog hands to positions where the information on the LCD display comes into full view.

Available in brown “Soft Touch” leather band or black rubber strap, both with titanium clasp, the OMEGA Spacemaster Z-33 joins the brand’s timepiece collection for professionals later on this year.
