One of the premier fixed gear crews in London is Fixed Gear London, consisting of street riders and freestyle riders. The founder Andy Ellis, who is also the founder of Fixed Magazine, explains their latest collaboration with workwear giant Dickies in a video interview. Rather than reinvent the wheel, Ellis took the classic 874 work pants and added details to re-appropriate it for riding without making dramatic change to the silhouette. When cyclists ride with pants, the hem sometimes gets caught on the chainring, making it dirty or damage it. To prevent this from happening, a cleverly designed velcro strap is fitted on to the hem.
