With less a month to go till New York Auto Show in April, Mercedes-Benz unveiled its new Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG for model years 2012 and 2013. With an output of 630 horsepower, each of the “biturbo” (or twin-turbocharged) 6-liter V12 engines were crafted by hand at the Mercedes-AMG facility. Clocked at 0 to 62 mph in just 4 seconds, the Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG takes the crown from the recently released SL 63 AMG as the top performance SL roadster in Mercedes-Benz’s inventory. To efficiently control the unwavering power for its powerplant, AMG also developed the SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G‑TRONIC, a new seven-speed automatic transmission to tame its fuel consumption. To redefine the term “luxury performance”, Mercedes added Magic Sky Control, a panoramic vario-roof that is electro-hydraulically operated as an option. And like the previous SL, luxury features like AIRSCARF (air vents embedded seats), PARKTRONIC, Attention Assist, Bang & Olufsen BeoSound surround sound system, and more are all standard to the new SL 65 AMG.
The vehicle will make its official debut during next month’s New York Auto Show, with delivery date set for September 2012. Each base model retails around EU€ 236,334 or US$ 312,000 at current exchange rate.
