adidas – Stella McCartney Designs for UK Olympics Team

By - March 23rd, 2012

Ahead of the 2012 Summer Olympics, the UK Olympic Team’s outfitter, adidas, decided to bring in a unique design eye for each of their athlete’s kits: famed fashion stylist Stella McCartney. The result of McCartney’s work makes for an imaginative use of the familiar Union Jack by breaking down its pieces and reconstructing it into a look that, when combined with the performance technology and functionality expected of Adidas sportswear, presents an entirely new take on sportswear. Each of the 900 British athletes competing in the London 2012 games will also pick up a kit bag with matching presentation suits, training wear, village wear, accessories, and footwear that keep the traditional blue and white colorway seen in previous uniforms, but are updated to incorporate fabric and technology developments made since the 2008 games. Check out the UK’s real Olympic stars themselves modeling the kits after the jump.
