A level of excitement is already building as the city of Beijing gets ready to host Auto China 2012 at the end of this month. In what is one of the world’s fastest growing markets for cars, international automakers, like Porsche, will be jockeying for market share among themselves and nimbler domestic brands. Not to be out maneuver by the competition, the Stuttgart-base company will be unveiling the 2013 Porsche Cayenne GTS, a performance oriented sports utility vehicle. Fit nicely right in between the Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo, the GTS borrowed Cayenne S’ 420 horsepower V8 engine and its eight-speed Tip-tronic S transmission. This configuration enables the new SUV to cross 62 mph from a standing start in just 5.7 seconds. Thanks to its custom chassis and lower stance, the Cayenne GTS’ drive characteristic is more like that of a car instead of SUV. As a reference to its performance, the Cayenne GTS shares many of the same design elements as the Cayenne Turbo. The aggressively designed front, side skirts, wider wheel wells, and distinctive twin-wing spoiler are just some of the accentuated idiosyncrasies both have.
With an official launch date set for July 2012, the 2013 Porsche Cayenne GTS can be yours for EU€ 90,774 or around US$ 120,000. See below for more details and introductory video of this new addition.
