The Retronaut site is run by Chris Wild of Oxfordshire, England, an ex-museum curator and entrepreneur who travels back in time — in a manner — by using “just his perception,” thus becoming a retronaut. He views his site as a portal into the past, which goes hand in hand with the interest of design company Wary Meyer, made up of husband-and-wife team Linda and John Meyers. Their hobbies include looking for “ultimate finds” at estate sales, flea markets and thrift shops, presumably through which John came across this amazingly pristine pair of made-in-Japan Nike Oregon Waffle running shoes, complete with original box. Likely manufactured as part of the nascent brand’s original 1973 run, the combination nylon-suede kicks feature a classic yellow/green colorway and Bill Bowerman’s waffle sole. Check out the un-boxing presentation below.
