Nike x Tom Sachs NIKECraft Collection Launch | Event Recap

By - May 16th, 2012

Yesterday saw the opening of artist Tom Sachs‘ “Space Program: MARS” exhibition at the Park Avenue Armory in New York. Space travel has long been a prominent theme in Sachs’ oeuvre, and this show is the latest expression of that obsession, transforming the 55,000 square foot space into an “immersive space odyssey that explores a path to discovery through a journey to the red planet.” Objects on display included pieces from Tom Sachs venture with Nike, dubbed the NIKECraft collection, inspired by the notion of blending sport performance and space travel. See images from the NIKECraft launch event below, attendees of which included Julian Schnabel, Nate Lowman and gallery owner Bill Powers, and be sure to check out the “Space Program: Mars” exhibition if you can.
