There are some that are manufactured for the mass market to be produced and consumed quickly, then there are ice which are made slowly with less oxygen, giving it a crystal clear aesthetic that will last much longer in a drink. Furthermore, corners on ice cubes induce melting, therefore an ice ball is the preferred choice for cooling alcoholic beverages.
