Tiger Woods undoubtedly feels like he has something to prove this weekend at the 2012 Memorial Tournament in Ohio. The former no. 1 player in the world is coming off the worst three-tournament stretch of his career, so while he looks for answers to his less than stellar play, he can at least be secure in the knowledge it’s not the equipment. Since last summer, Tiger’s worn prototype shoes inspired by Nike Free technology. Dubbed the Nike TW ’13, the shoes were the product of a conversation Tiger had with Nike Golf‘s footwear creation team, in which Tiger explained he trained and ran using Nike Free technology. “Why,” he asked, “Can’t I play golf in it?” The two enlisted the services of Tobie Hatfield and his Innovation Kitchen, resulting in shoes that use natural motion technology that helps to increase the strength of the muscles and flexibility of the foot.
The Nike TW ’13 features a new Nike Dynamic Fit support system, delivering unprecedented strength-to-weight ratio and one-to-one fitted support, plus Flywire-equipped nylon straps extending 360 degrees from the footbed to the lacing system, providing stability and an adaptive fit. The shoes come in white or black colorways and are expected to hit retailers starting June 8th. Check out a new commercial for the Nike TW ’13 below.
