LEGO – Star Wars x M.C. Escher “Relativity” | By Paul Vermeesch

It takes a special kind of creative mind to view M.C. Escher’s “Relativity” and think “This would make a great Star Wars LEGO model.” In this particular case, the mind belongs to 16-year-old Paul Vermeesch, who took six months and anywhere between 2,000 to 3,000 bricks to construct this one-foot-by-one-foot block model. Vermeesch believed that, despite its mind-bending complexity, “Relativity” was one of the few works by Escher that could actually be built. The result is a brilliant construct made up of key scenes from the original Star Wars trilogy (Luke’s dismembered hand still clutching his lightsaber is a nice touch). There’s even a nifty meta flourish — a miniature scale theater in the back has an iPod Touch screen that plays clips from the LEGO Star Wars video games. via: Mocpages
