2012 London Olympics – Closing Ceremony | Featuring Union Jack Flag By Damien Hirst

By - August 15th, 2012

The closing ceremony of the London Olympics last Sunday was a fittingly elaborate three-hour coda to the Games, featuring, in the words of the organizers, a “celebration of all that’s good about London, British people, our music and our culture.” There were high-profile personalities from the worlds of music, fashion and design, with the latter represented most conspicuously by the member of the group formerly known as the Young British Artists, one Damien Hirst. His enormous spin painting rendering of the Union Jack covered the floor of the Olympic Stadium, the flag’s intersecting white lines forming ramps for performers and props.
