She may just be beginning her design career, by Alei Verspoor is already onto something with her Pack! Bags that she designed while enrolled as a full-time student at the Royal College of Art in London. Using a low-tech and “rapid manufacturing” technique, each bag is made by folding and basic weaving techniques that allow you to mix-and-match colors to build your own unique design or replace a strap if one begins to wear out. However, you don’t have to stick to just bags, you can also create a range of gear to fit a lot of different purposes, from backpacks, to duffel bags, laptop bags, seat cushions, and benches all with a three-dimensional checkered pattern. You can see more of Verspoor’s Pack! Bags concept at the SustainRCA project within the Design for the Real World exhibition at the RCA in London beginning in September.
