The tease is finally over. During this weekend at the all-important 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California, BMW will be unveiling its BMW Zagato Roadster. Work started immediately after its roofed counterpart, the BMW Zagato Coupe, received numerous at accolades during the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy. In just six weeks time, employees from both BMW and the fabled Italian coachmaker Zagato pulled off the impossible. Not just a mere concept, like the Coupe, the BMW Zagato Roadster is fully operable with 19-inch alloy wheels, a cloth convertible top, and strengthen chassis to accommodate safety features. More than just a “chopped top” variant of the Coupe, the Roadster features a wider stance lower to the ground, which translates to a more aggressive appearance than the Coupe. Finally, there are the numerous details, like the “Z” metal grille on BMW’s signature kidney-shaped front air intake. This one-of-one BMW Zagato Roadster will be on display throughout this weekend’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance festivities.
