September 6 marks a special occasion as New York City’s own FUTURA returns for his first solo exhibition back in his hometown in nearly 12 years. Born Leonard Hilton McGurr, FUTURA is a pioneer in the street art movement, a career that began by tagging NYC subway trains while hip-hop was still in its infancy and has steadily evolved to the graphic design and gallery art that will be displayed in the exhibit entitled “Future Shock,” a homage to Alvin Toffler’s book, which first fascinated FUTURA in his teenage years. The exhibition will run for an entire month at the Valmorbida and will include a range of art across a variety of media reflecting his signature vibrancy and rhythmic style.
