The recent spurt in gun related violence across the U.S. have many revisiting the senseless loss of lives over the years. One such was Benjamin “Benji” Wilson, Jr. Simply known as Benji to his friends and family, Wilson played for Simeon Vocational High School in Chicago and led them to its first Illinois State Championship in 1984 against Evanston Township High School. A promising basketball star in the making, but that journey was cut short when he was shot to death just at the start of his Senior year. As a tribute, Nike and the London-base creative agency ILoveDust created the Benji Wilson Pack in honoring the memories of Wilson. Featuring a pair of Nike Lunar Hyperdunk 2012 in Game Royal/University Gold-Obsidian, a colorway closely related to that of Simeon Vocational High School. Other parts include a plaque with Wilson’s jersey number, 25, and a specially made shoe tag. Finally, all are packaged with a custom wooden case, created from reclaimed gymnasium flooring. To truly complete design, ILoveDust laser-etched variation of markings, from Illinois State Championship to Simeon’s own, and last but not least, one created on behalf of Wilson, on all sides of the case.
