A wide spectrum of American menswear design was on display in Brooklyn last night as GQ and GAP debut their 2012 Best New Menswear Designers in America Collection. An impressive roster of Who’s Who, from Todd Snyder, Ian Velardi, the twins of Ovadia & Sons, veteran fashion designer Johan Lindeberg, to the guys from Saturdays Surf NYC, and of course the rebellious Mark McNairy. Along the East River shoreline, each casually showcased their collaborative capsule collections for the very first time among the midst of New York fashion media, bloggers, freelance editors, beers and ice cream sandwiches. Along the always affable Jim Moore, Creative Director of GQ, and the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Jim Nelson, actor Penn Badgley and New York Knicks’ Tyson Chandler swung by the festivity for a quick glimpse. For the rest of us who missed out on the fun, another opportunity will presents itself next Thursday, September 27th, as the collection goes on sale at select GAP retail locations and through its online store.
