It is fast becoming a norm. So often in fact many passer-bys wondered if a new nightclub opened on this tiny stretch of Wooster Street in SoHo. A more accurate depiction would be the adidas Originals SoHo Store’s 10th anniversary and the month-long festivities celebrating the important rite of passage. After its Fashion’s Night Out event two weeks before and concert with A$AP Rocky some days ago, the spot played host on Thursday to “HERE WE GO AGAIN: A Visual History of the Past Three Decades of New York City”, a photo exhibition celebrating the Big Apple’s past. Curated by Ben “King” Solomon, Nicolas Atkins, and featured works by Clayton Patterson, Bijoux Altamirano, Arab Parrot, Cheryl Dunn, Mordechai Rubenstien, Guess, Daniel B. Levin, Julia Willoughby Nason, Shadi, Angela Boatwright, Nathaniel Matthews, Kish Robinson and Alexander Richter. In effect, it was a retrospective but not of an individual artist. Rather, the exhibit showcased a collective experience during the three decades in New York City and a rare look at all the forgotten fragments, good or bad, of those times. The adidas Originals SoHo Store’s 10th anniversary celebration continues with more festivities to come in the near future.
