Director, photographer, visual artist, David Lynch‘s surreal images are, in reality, accurate facsimiles of everyday lives. How’s that to be? Well, have you ever heard of the term “more real than real?” As the three times Oscar-nominated director explained “It is a process of tuning in and then through experimentation getting something that expresses the essential nature,” or in other words, to wring the very essence of the subject through a process of his own creation. With this re-inventive procedure, Lynch took photos of Dom Pérignon and Dom Pérignon Rosé Champagne bottles, then re-animated them as something of a holographic relief. With added touches, such his signature, along with hints of granite, mica, and silver, the finished illusion adorns both Dom Pérignon bottles and the giftbox’s exterior. Designed to be in the likeness of a mini movie theater, the giftbox’s interior is finished with silk ribbons and curtain, all set to reveal a hiaroscuro silhouettes by Lynch.
The limited Dom Pérignon by David Lynch comes in two-forms, one in bronze for Dom Pérignon Vintage 2003, the other in purple for Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2000. Both are available now through the finest purveyors worldwide, such as colette of Paris.
