Scion has taken the wraps off its ultra-compact 2013 iQ EV, a battery-electric four-seater “designed for car-sharing programs in urban and campus environments.” Essentially a rebranded Toyota eQ, the vehicle features Toyota’s newly developed high-output lithium-ion battery, good for an electric power consumption rate of 104 Wh/km. It enables an acceleration rate of 0-60 mph in 13.4 seconds, and a top speed of 78 mph (125 km/h). Scion reports an estimated driving range of just 50 miles with a full charge (taking approximately three hours at 240V) on the 12 kWh battery. Inside the cabin, there are heated front seats and an infotainment system with GPS. The exterior, meanwhile, features a two-tone paint job in silver or red with black accents, plus a 78-inch wheel base with a 13.5 foot turning radius that makes the iQ EV ideal for congested city streets.
