Last year Louis Vuitton, “faithful to its innovator origins,” dove into the world of bike polo by developing the brand’s own bike and mallet. Built with help from noted players Hannes Hengst and Gregory Barbier, the fixed gear bike is elegantly appointed, featuring a leather wrapped bike shaft, etched bar plugs, special machine chaining by Victoire, plus a stitched leather mallet holder. The mallet itself has a leather wrapped shaft and hollowed out head, the latter featuring classic Vuitton Damier patterns. Part of the French fashion house’s “sports objects” series, the bikes are showcased in a Jonathan Leder-directed film, “Craftsmen on Wheels,” that evokes the spirit of the French New Wave.
