There may be a lot of political and economic turmoil Spain, but Volkswagen lovers there will have something to smile about with the news that they can now get their own exclusive Beetle 53 Edition inspired by the popular Disney movie star. In recent years, Herbie has been seen with Lindsay Lohan behind the wheel, but in his 6 earlier films the eager VW car (who is able to drive himself) has developed quite a love of racing. Just like the movie version of the car, which was always seen with red, white, and blue racing stripes and a racing-style number “53” on the front trunk, doors, and engine lid, this modern take on Herbie features a three different engine options: an entry-level 1.2-liter TSI engine that produces 105 HP, a 1.6-liter TDI with 105 HP, and a 2.0-liter TDI with 140 HP. In addition to number internal cabin upgrades that include a special edition “Beetle 53” badge on the glove box, VW set Herbie up with pair of 17-inch alloy wheels. The Beetle 53 Edition will release in the coming weeks with a Spanish sticker price of €22,090.
