Following the successful release of retrospective on Marc Newson, which we previewed yesterday, TASCHEN now turns their focus on promoting their books on fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto and artist Rei Kawakubo. For decades, Yamamoto’s work has been interpreted beyond just its aesthetics, his works are deeply intellectual and often focus on his adoration for the female form, creating designs that are both avant-garde and timelessly utilitarian. In their 120 page book exploring both his biography and his designs, TASCHEN’s “Yohji Yamamoto” helps you to explore over 30 years of his imagery and designs and the impact they have had on others in the industry. “Rei Kawakubo: COMME des GARçONS” is a similar expose on the head of the Japanese fashion house, which specializes in diversity; creating not just apparel, but furniture, architecture, and graphic design always in search in the next shape, garment, or idea that will challenge our thinking. Both titles are set for a December 30, 2012 release date.
Release Date: December 30, 2012 (Sunday)
