Only a week into its launch, and already North American sales of Nintendo‘s new game console, the Wii U, have topped over the 400,000 mark. In fact, Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo North America, declared in a recent interview that the Wii U “…is effectively sold out at retail…” Though it won’t be all doom and gloom for those who missed out. As a consolation, Nintendo have re-packaged the original Wii console into a smaller, lighter form. Aptly dubbed the Nintendo Wii Mini, it still functions almost exactly like the first generation Wii and is fully compatible with all of 1300+ game titles, controllers, and other peripherals. The biggest draw, however, would be its $99.99 price tag, making it the cheapest game console out there. Unfortunately, there are some hitches, including no abilities to connect to the Internet and its exclusivity to Canadian retailers only when it launches on December 8th.
