Omote 3D Shashin Kan 3D Print Self Portrait Pop up Shop | Tokyo3D printing has made tremendous progress in the last few years, from prototyping for large corporations and factories to being affordable for students and the general public. http://omote3d.com/”>Omote 3D Shashin Kan is the latest craze to hit Tokyo. Loosely translated as Omotesando Photo Gallery, this pop-up shop in http://gyre-omotesando.com/”>GYRE allows visitors to create a miniature version of themselves through 3D printing. As illustrated by http://blog.honeyee.com/nigo/”>NIGO above and http://blog.honeyee.com/tosumi/”>Takeshi Osumi below, the result is very convincing and detailed. It simply requires the participant to stand still for 15 minutes, while staff at the shop use a 3D scanner to scan every angle of the body. Once the process is finished, it takes around a month for the complete figurine. Unfortunately, all sessions have sold out already, but extra sessions may be added, so check back on their website.
