For their next project, the German power tuners from BRABUS took on the second-generation Mercedes-Benz GL-Class, turning a car with an already brutish resume into one with a more obvious high-performance twist. Queued up for an appearance at the Essen Motor Show, this MB is equipped with a series of new exterior modifications, including a new stainless-steel sports exhaust system, updated brakes, and options for an air suspension system (allowing for up to a 30mm drop) or new wheel sizes (from 18- to 23-inches). Inside, BRABUS has prepared a new series of upholstery options, including Mastik leather or Alcantara, exotic woods, and carbon fiber to go with the updated chrome for the dashboard, door, and instrument panel. Under the hood, BRABUS shows off a bit with the introduction of a new ECO PowerXtra D6S performance kit for the GL’s engine, boosting performance of the GL350 to 310 HP and 509 lb-ft of torque and the GL500 to 521 HP. You can begin to expect to see BRABUS-updated GL’s as soon as early 2013.
