adidas Consortium, the collaborative design focus collection from adidas Originals, will be returning this month with its newest project, the adidas Consortium x hanon CNTR. Together with Aberdeen-base retailer hanon, the edition will be a variation of the adidas Originals Centaur. Last released back in 1984, this revamped version honors hanon’s hometown as well as its nickname “The Granite City”. Known for its collection of towering granite structures thanks in part to the quarries nearby, Aberdeen’s cityscape comes alive in accordance to the seasons. While it can be drab and dark during the winter seasons, the stone’s quartz and mica light up during the sun-lit summer months.
Similarly, you will find a grey color scheme on the adidas Consortium x hanon CNTR. Layers of suede, mesh, and nubuck are references to Aberdeen’s changing seasons. The dark grey suede reflects the city’s dull winter, though a layer of light grey nubuck, silver mesh, and a dash of red accents all help in highlight the summertime. Aside from details like dual branded heel tabs and the embroidered adidas Consortium tongue pulls, hanon’s design team added an all-over print pattern in the likeness of archival adidas boxes and packing tissue paper to the sockliner. Last but not least, black 3M reflective martial makes up the granite-like adidas 3-stripe on the side panel, almost an exact replica to the stonework found on hanon’s warehouse.
Limited in numbers, the adidas Consortium x hanon CNTR, along with a t-shirt in matching “granite” design, will be available starting on Saturday, January 26th, through hanon in Aberdeen, its online shop, adidas’ No.6 London and No.74 Berlin specialty boutiques, as well as other retailers with adidas Consortium account.
