You know that rush you get when you find something new — even paradigm-shifting — when you least suspect it and you’ve just got to have it? Carole and Clarent Dehlouz, founders of the Parisian retail shop FrenchTrotters, can relate. For the last seven years, this dynamic duo has been carefully sourcing, organizing, and discovering pieces to create a retail space with a selection of hard to find labels and products, all with a focus on quality and elegance. Just like a good story, the Dehlouzes want the items they sell to have a lasting, even enduring feel to them.
Beginning with their first shop in 2005 and growing into a second in 2008 fully dedicated to menswear, the FrenchTrotters name then took on a life of its own, materializing into a clothing line that the Dehlouzes are intimately involved in designing. As seen in their Fall/Winter 2013 Collection, they use only the nicest fabrics with a focus on quality and fit. The label also uses their own prints, dyes, and embroideries, leaving each piece with a very authentic feel and an almost effortless and understated style. The in-house label is also open to collaborating with some of France’s own top brands, the results of which we’ll have to wait to see closer to the season’s release in the coming months. This may be the first time you’ve heard of this brand, but you bet your britches you’ll be hearing a lot more from them in the years to come.
