Hatchback fans rejoice: on the same day that Audi unveiled its new S3 Sportback at the Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz also pulled the covers off the new A45 AMG. The five-door is powered by an AMG-tuned 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, putting out an impressive 360 horsepower (making it the most powerful production four-cylinder engine out there) and 332 pound-feet of torque. It's mated to a seven-speed AMG dual-clutch transmission, driving all four wheels via AMG's performance-oriented 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Living up to its hot hatch status, the A45 AMG can accelerate from 0 - 60 mph in under 4.5 seconds, with a top speed of 155 mph. Handling, meanwhile, is enhanced with a stiffer suspension and bespoke steering settings. On the styling front, the exterior receives black accents to the chin spoiler, rocker panels and mirror caps, complemented with black wheels with red brake calipers and rectangular dual exhaust outlets. Red accenting throughout and a carbon fiber-effect dash spruces up the interior. No news to date on U.S. availability, but the A45 AMG is expected to hit German showrooms in June.
