Representing the first rear-wheel drive performance sedan to come out of Chevrolet factories in 17 years, the 2014 Chevrolet SS is set to roar into dealer showrooms in the fourth quarter of 2013. Under the hood, prospective buyers will find a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 delivering 415 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque, good for a 0-to-60 spring time of about five seconds. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with TAP shift paddles, while stopping comes courtesy of big Brembo disk brakes inside forged aluminum 19-inch wheels. They’re wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza tires — 245/40ZR-19 up front and 275/35ZR-19 in the rear. Inside a cabin spacious enough to accommodate five adults, there are standard leather seating surfaces and a soft-touch dash, plus a nine-speaker Bose sound system. Additional features include a heads-up display, accompanied by safety technology measures including a backup camera, blind spot monitoring and a forward collision alert system. Automatic Parking Assist, optionally available for the first time in a Chevrolet vehicle, assists in parallel and right-angled parking. Check out detailed looks in the gallery below.
