The PR team over at http://jeep.com” target=”_blank”>Jeep and its parent company http://chrysler.com” target=”_blank”>Chrysler/Dodge probably went through the five stages of grief early morning last Friday, when leaked images of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee went public on automotive blog http://jalopnik.com/2014-jeep-cherokee-this-is-it-335476306″ target=”_blank”>Jalopnik. Taken right on the Jeep factory floor with most likely a cellphone, these first images revealed a design unlike its predecessor or any other Jeep models. As they tried to contain the debacle, even at one point tweeted the following on the attempt to throw everyone off, only to accept defeat and released the official images earlier than planned.

With a likely goal to dethrone the http://freshnessmag.com/2011/06/29/land-rover-range-rover-evoque/” target=”_blank”>Range Rover Evoque, the new Jeep Cherokee will not just be a compact version of its large cousin. Instead, it will share the same frame found the http://dodge.com” target=”_blank”>Dodge Dart performance compact. Aside from the change in size, one obvious design change is the Cherokee’s front facia, with seven vertical slots now in place of the original grill. Another notable and possible controversial alteration is the triple-deck layout that divides the LED headlights, fog lights, and turn signals. Rumored to be powered by either a four-cylinder or a 3.2-liter V6 engine along with the options of either front-wheel or all-wheel drive, the 2014 Jeep Cherokee will be arriving at your local dealerships around the third quarter of this year.
