Armed with a hybrid powertrain – a mid-mounted 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine and a highly efficient electric motor, the McLaren P1 is truely a brute of a car, capable of a combined output of 903 horsepower with a maximum torque figure of 900Nm. Already confirmed with a top speed 217.5 mph and a 0 to 100 km/h time of under 3 seconds, the McLaren P1 isn’t just a successor t o the storied McLaren F1 super car. Instead, it will also mark the 50th anniversary since racer Bruce McLaren established the company that will forever associate with automotive sports.
No longer a design concept, the McLaren P1 will debut at next month’s 2013 Geneva Motor Show as a production model with delivery date set for sometime next year. Fully quipped for either road or track usage, only 375 McLaren P1 will be made with price starts at £866,000 GBP or around $1,315,000 USD.
