A keen student on functional aesthetics, designer Alex Drayer measured everything a globetrotting disc jockey would carry during the development process of his newest accessory. He even gone so far as to consult our mutual friend, DJ Clark Kent, and DJ Young Guru, Jay-Z’s own sound engineer, to perfect all aspects of this his iteration, the Red Bull x LEXDRAY – DJ Backpack.
As an award to the finalists from the Red Bull Thre3Style DJ Competition, this limited edition backpack features everything on a traveling DJ’s wishlist. Consists of four zippered compartments, including one lined with fleece for either a 18-inch laptop or an Apple iPad. Another compartment includes six mesh zipped pockets and four padded slots, perfect for memory cards, flash drives, cellphone, or a Shure needle case and a Serato SL4 audio interface. Similar to all other LEXDRAY backpack, there is hidden section on the pack’s back for CD storage. And for those old-school traditionalists, Drayer even added a section designed to hold 6 to 8 vinyl records.
Made in proven Cordura, weatherproof zipper enclosure and lined with a special duck camo print created by agency StreetVirus, the blue variant of Red Bull x LEXDRAY DJ Backpack will be available only to Red Bull Thre3Style finalists. But starting in April, a black version of the pack, with grey-scale duck camo liner, will be available at $405 USD through lexdray.com and select retailers.
