International Space Station Time-Lapse Photography

By - March 13th, 2013

Entitled “Making the Invisible Visible,” this short film from Austrian cinematographer Christoph Malin pays tribute to the work of NASA astronaut Don Pettit — specifically, his innovative photography while on board the International Space Station. Interspersed with footage of a speech by Dr. Pettit on the challenges of astrophotography, the fifteen-minute video features a compilation of four timelapses processed from ISS footage — “Intro,” “Startrails,” “Fisheye” and “Aurorae” — that effectively alters the way we see earth from space. In the words of Malin himself, “Welcome aboard the ISS — enjoy stunning photography and timelapses from the Space Station!” Check it out below.
