Oklahoma City Thunder‘s Kevin Durant announced he will debut a new N7 variant of his Nike Zoom KD V signature shoe this Thursday, April 11th, as the OKC Thunder takes on the Golden State Warriors. For the second year, Durant will be throwing his support behind Nike N7 initiative, one that helped to raise fundings for Native American and Aboriginal youth sport programs across the U.S. Through such promotions, like the exclusive Nike N7 Collection and the special Nike Zoom KD V, Nike already raised over $2 million since the project’s inception in 2009. The initiative, however, has a personal side too for Durant, who’s adoptive state of Oklahoma includes some 25 different Native American tribes. Even the state’s name of Oklahoma came from the Choctaw people’s term for “Red People.”
In turquoise upper with a geometric yellow overprint inspired by modern Native American art, the color arrangement on the N7 KDV is symbolic of friendship (turquoise) and direction (yellow) within the Native American culture. Included with the shoe will be a special N7 graphic tee featuring the N7 logo of yellow, red, black, and white, the same four colors you will find on a Native American medicine wheel.
Following its debut on April 11th, Nike N7 will be hosting a workout event at the Oklahoma Indian Clinic and Chickasaw Nation on April 12th. The Nike N7 Collection for Summer 2013, including the KD V “N7”, the N7 logo tee, and the new “Dragon Fly” graphic tee, will be available this Saturday, April 13th, through select Nike retail locations, NikeStore.com, and for the first time at select Foot Locker locations in the U.S. and Canada, as well as footlocker.com
