To help usher in the very first low version of Jordan Son of Mars, New York City's WEST NYC invited the real "Son of Mars", Jackson Lee, to tomorrow's in-store launch event. Like the Jordan Spiz'ike before it, the Son of Mars is an amalgamation of Air Jordan models favored by Spike Lee's fictional sneakerhead Mars Blackmon. There are the hints of elephant/cement panelings, obvious references to the Air Jordan III. Though almost impossible to see, the influence of Air Jordan IV is just right below the Son of Mars' laces as part of its design feature, unlike the Air Jordan V, which appears as the outsole sidewall and the one-piece reflective Jumpman tongue. Finally, Air Jordan VI helped to complete the package with its geometric shaped upper and padded ankle cuff. Then there was Spike Lee's son Jackson, who inspired his father to create a design all to his own, thus the moniker "Son of Mars."
The first Jordan Son of Mars Low in "Tour Yellow" will be available through all Jordan Brand dealers tomorrow. And if you're in the New York City area, swing by WEST NYC around 10 am to meet the "Real" Son of Mars.
