As seen earlier, thanks to a preview by Japan’s GRIND Magazine, Supreme finally unveiled its enticing collaboration with punk band The Misfits. Founded by Glenn Danzig and hailing from Lodi, New Jersey, the pioneering group is credited for “horror punk, a sub-genre which ushered in later formations such as Black Flag and even a new hairstyle called the “Devilock.” While the band abandoned their act in 1983, Danzig went on to form other horror punk bands like Samhain and his own Danzig. The Misfits’ influence continues onward through these days as well in other music genres such as alternative rock, heavy metal, and even grunge.
In mostly black and prominently featuring the band’s signature skull mascot–one first appeared on the band’s June 1979 Horror Business single, inspired originally by the 1946 short film series The Crimson Ghost–the Misfits x Supreme capsule collection encompasses a wide range of apparel and accessories. This includes everything from a Trench Coat, Short Sleeve Button-Down Shirt, Crewneck Sweatshirt, L/S Sleeve Tee, to three Graphic T-Shirts, a 5-Panel Hat, Pins and a Bic Lighter.
All items are slated for release starting this Thursday, April 18th, at Supreme’s retail locations in New York, Los Angeles, and London, as well as its online store. The collection will also be available through Supreme’s six stores in Japan starting on Saturday, April 20th.
