It’s pretty much a safe bet to say that Alien Workshop is in their own world when it comes to skating – and as anyone who knows co-founder Mike Hill would attest – that’s a compliment. Hill, however, isn’t satisfied to run the brand from afar; he’s still the driving force behind its in-your-face, edgy style, which has grown its own legion of followers addicted to its unique aesthetic. To help celebrate his work, his style, and to just have a good time, VANS Syndicate and Uprise Skateshop of Chicago put together a retrospective exhibition of his work, hosted by the Peanut Gallery in Humboldt Park. The exhibit featured figurines, decks, and other media fond of the prolific artist. If you didn’t get a chance to attend, you can enjoy a video recap of the event, the guests, and all the work displayed as well as an interview with Hill, where he talks about his first ever show, collaboration with VANS on special edition kicks, and why he feels skaters have connected to his brand.
