Not many watch makers have the distinction of being a GSA Contractor. Rarer still are the testimonials from actual service members of the military, including those from US Special Operations Command. Yet the California-base MTM have both, along with other accreditations from professional organizations, outdoor enthusiasts, and frontline journalists. Now, it can add nuclear physicists to that list with the RAD Tactical Watch, the first one made for radiation detection.
Quipped with a miniature Geiger-Mueller Tube, the watch measures Dose Equivalent Rate (DER) and Dose Equivalents for Gamma-Radiation (DE). Both the dose and rate along with the time are on display through RAD's digital readout while the analog dial indicate time. Users can set thresholds for both measurements as well which the watch will give audible warnings when reach. Machined out of solid titanium and waterproof up to 100 meters, it comes with IR connectivity and software for wireless transfer of radiation data onto a computer. The MTM RAD Tactical Watch is available in Black (DLC Plating), Titanium, and Brushed Titanium finish with a selection of titanium bands, ballistic Velcro, Neoprene bands, and rubber strap, all through MTM's dealers and online store.
