Every Noise At Once Discovering Music Through Genre Maps

Discovering something new and awesome is always a highlight of someone’s day. Whether it be a new food spot, vintage shop, or record store, finding it is cause for excitement. Glenn McDonald is giving us an opportunity to discover music in a way that’s never been done before. Every Noise at Once is the name of the project and using a clickable map of genres, it exposes the user to just about every type of musical genre known to man, many of which you’ve probably never heard of – filmi anyone?

In McDonald’s words, he describes his project as

“algorithmically-generated non-analytical map of the musical genre-space. Genres and artists are positioned by code and data, adjusted for legibility, but the underlying vectors are less interesting than the juxtapositions and clusters that they produce, so the axes have been deliberately left unlabeled and uncalibrated. You are invited to imagine your own qualities and magnitudes that the geometry might be expressing.”

While Pandora and Spotify might be the popular choices for discovering music, Every Noise at Once might lead you on a path to a musical journey that you never thought you’d experience.
