Google Launches Google Play Music All Access

Google’s 6th annual I/O developer conference kicked off in San Francisco today with the announcement of Google Play Music All Access, a streaming music service available for Android-based smartphones and tablets (plus a Web browser version for laptops and desktops). For a monthly fee of $9.99, users will be able to stream “millions of tracks,” while using the Explore feature to discover new music through personalized recommendations or expert-curated playlists. According to Google engineering director Chris Yerga, “We set out to build a music service that doesn’t just give you access to great music, but guides you to the music you want to hear.” Like Spotify, All Access lets users create a custom radio station while listening to a particular song, creating, as Yerga put it, “radio without rules.” The service is available as of today for stateside users.
