In front of a stars studded and celebrities filled auditorium at Lincoln Center‘s Alice Tully Hall, Public School designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne took home the prestigious 2013 CFDA Swarovski Menswear Award earlier tonight. Nominated alongside designer Todd Snyder, who’s best known for his works at J.Crew, and Tim Coppens, the 2012 winner of Ecco Domani award for “Best New Menswear Designer,” Chow stated “We are honored and extremely grateful for this award. We were competing against very talented designers. To be recognized by our peers, editors and the fashion industry is an incredible moment.” Osborne added, “We are thankful to the CFDA and Swarovski for creating this amazing platform for American designers. The menswear award is truly an honor.”
Built upon their years as designers at streetwear labels Mecca, Ecko, and Sean Jean, both Chow and Osborne redefined the concept of modern tailor sportswear with the launch of Public School in 2007. The dynamic duo further honed their skills at CFDA Fashion Incubator program and brought a new sense of edginess, undoubtedly from their “streetwear” days, to their designs. You will find the collection by Public School at BARNEYS NEW YORK, Harvey Nichols, Odin New York, Bloomingdales, SSENSE, and other fine retailers worldwide.
A well-deserved congratulation to Dao-Yi, Maxwell, and the rest of the Public School team!!!
