Kenichi Kusano heads up BARACUTA‘s Spring/Summer 2014 line, drawing on England’s history as a naval powerhouse and their notoriously dicey weather as inspiration. The collection is roughly divided into two parts: the Cosomopolis Series, which blends water-resistant fabrics with classic Baracuta style to support the brand’s classic G9, and the Sailing Capsule, with color-blocking hearkening back to nautical flags. Within the Sailing Capsule, a new piece emerges, the G5, a hooded, sleeveless adaptation of the iconic G9 that would be the perfect go-to piece for a day out on the water or the out on the town. The Cosomopolis gives us five new silhouettes including a classic trench, ¾ length jacket, bomber, and blazer. The S/S 14 Collection also sees the first ever linen G9 and a linen G14 belt-wrapped blazer, rounding out the work of a brand known for a strong heritage that clearly isn’t afraid to reinterpret with key elements from contemporary style. Look for all of the pieces previewed after the click to arrive in the months to come.
